Fazley FSG418DR Electric Guitar (Dark Red)

Thanks for the guitar I ordered. Very happy with the instrument, a great price for a great guitar. Just one point, as in other reviews, the packaging needs to be more firm and secure to ensure safe delivery without any unnecessary damage. Thank you once again. My son drew black surprised me with fsg418dr (dark red) to add to my collection as a Christmas present it arrived well packed & on time I was looking at a tiger hot rod now that can come later the guitar had no maks or scuffs wanted a small set up left it to get used to room temperature it now plays and sounds great Thanks bax well pleased David black

To my mind the guitar arrived well packaged in two boxes and is amongst the best packaging I have received. Also delivery was quick enough so well done Bax.

The help I got from the salespersons was very good too - it had to be because dealing with the internet for me was definitely not so good and in fairness they made up for that.

This is one guitar I will not be wanting to send back though it is early days at the moment.

I was very impressed with the finish and the colour - dark red - is gorgeous though I would have liked the back of the neck to have been the same colour as well!

String height on arrival was way too high though playable. A soon as the height was brought down the intonation got much better and required just a little tweaking. Today's cheap guitars knock spots off those made some 60 years ago and for my money it is that which makes cheaper guitars today such good value.

The last but one fret (21) is a little high on the bass string side and affected only a few frets before it so needed levelling but I never go that near the body. I am not too enamoured with the tuners and I can see myself eventually wanting to replace them with something more accurate and responsive.

You may notice that the neck is laid farther into the body than an Epiphone SG. This more compact build suits me, I like parlour size guitars as I rest the guitar on my left leg and, as I said earlier, I tend not to go to the top end of the fretboard. Also the light weight is a blessing too at my age and I hardly notice the little bit of loss of "depth" in the sound it gives.

I have owned various Gibsons and Epiphone SGs in the distant past and while I liked my Les Paul I did not come to terms with the SG. Some years ago I got hold of a Chord SG and this eventually led me to wanting another non Epiphone SG.

Factor into this the good price of the guitar and it can only be described as a winner.

Amazing SG guitar for the price. Pro's it plays great straight out of the box and tone wise it is exactly what i wanted. It looks great and feels great in the hand, no rough frets. Volume and Tone pots work as expected and tuners are acceptable. Cons, it arrived in 2 boxes, inner and outer box, but the inner box didnt have much protection and the headstock has a slight scuff mark. Frets needed polishing (as expected) and neck needed adjusting (as expected) Only other thing i noticed was a few pitted paint finish marks on the body but these are barely noticable. The price when i bought it was £135 and its now £112 i strongly recommend this SG, for the price its a no brainer, it deserves 5 stars

Further to my previous comment, I would add to Glenn W comment about the guitars innerbox not being taped. This was the same with mine it was free to move about inside the box. Fortunately no damage done to it.Bax please note!

I like this guitar, its excellent value for money. The action is great and out of the box no buzzing and no adjustment needed, maybe the neck is a tad wide and deep. I would probably prefer Fazleys neck profile they have on their Strat style guitars, which I own. However no big issue for me and I guess the neck is in line with an SG guitar.I really don't know how they do it for the price. I have never been disappointed with the Fazley range of guitars from Bax.

Generally very impressed! Superb value for money (even more so as Bax have reduced the price since I bought mine!). Smooth controls, no fret sprout as delivered, and a nice low action. Some slight tweaks to the setup were required to tune correctly at the 12th fret. The neck is very heavy and has a strong tendency to dive when using a strap. My only concern is not with the guitar itself but with the way it was packed. The inner box was not taped shut and a number of the plastic packaging 'balloons' meant to secure it had burst leaving the guitar flopping around in the outer box like a beached seal! Thankfully, there were only a few light scuffs to the guitar body and no major damage. What price a bit of sellotape?

I absolutely love this guitar. To start with, it looks fantastic. The pictures on the Bax website don't really do it justice - on my screen it looks burgundy, however it's actually a shiny dark cherry colour which is quite stunning.
It's a really easy guitar to play - it's very lightweight, and I like the feel of the neck. The pickups are decent and the volume/tone controls work as they should (on some cheaper guitars they're more like on/off switches). As such, the guitar is capable of a surprisingly wide variety of tones (not just the obvious rock stuff). It's exceptionally quiet while idle, with no unwanted background noise.
Setup out of the box was okay - I felt that the action was actually too low, however with the tune-o-matic bridge it only took two half turns of a screwdriver to raise the string height to my satisfaction. It's much easier to adjust than the Fender-style guitars.
The negative points are fairly minor. The nut hadn't been cut very well, and the slots needed widened a little (too much grip on the strings). The factory strings are a very light gauge which are super easy to play but not the best for tuning stability. Finally, being very lightweight, it does exhibit considerable neck dive on a strap. All easily sorted though, so overall an indispensable addition to my guitar collection.

I wanted a guitar that looked & sounded great, I wasn't disappointed!

Even without taking into account the absolutely ridiculous price, the guitar is made quite well. There are no conspicuous flaws. The finishes and fittings are the simplest, of course, but good enough. I was pleasantly surprised by the pickups - both on a clean sound and on distortion they sound adequately and legibly. The electronics are wired neatly, they do not give significant noise, the adjustment is quite smooth, quiet. The shortcomings (in my opinion) are a rather thick neck in the manner of Gibsons in the period before the sixties, unpolished frets, guitar tuners that should be replaced immediately. And the rest is a great guitar for beginners, especially for such a price.

Mooie Gitaar voor deze prijs, en voor een beginner zoals mij een prima gitaar om mee te starten.
als het (leren) spelen bevalt kun ik altijd verder kijken voor een duurder model van de grotere merken.
voorlopig dik tevreden met dit nieuwe speeltje.
